Rumford Maine Coons has retired from breeding.
|
Rumford is an in-home cattery located in beautiful Brookfield, Wisconsin. Brookfield is just 10 miles west of Milwaukee and about an hours drive from either Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL or Madison, WI. We have been showing and breeding Maine Coon Cats since 1991. We strive to breed healthy, large, shaggy coated Maine Coons with a gentle, sweet, loving personality. |

| Maine Coon males average between 12-18 pounds, and females between 8-12 pounds. Sometimes ours are larger. The colors that we produce are brown, red, silver, red/silver, smokes and blue. We have been concentrating on the classic tabby pattern and have produced cats with very striking patterns. Some of our kittens are with white, which means they have white on their paws, chest and stomach. |

|
XXX Many of our females we produce are torbie or patched which means that they have red color running through their tabby markings. To see a cat with an outstanding torbie pattern click on the link to SGC, RW, GC Rumford's Good Golly Miss Molly. |

| While our goal is to create outstanding show quality kittens, we will usually have beautiful Pet Quality kittens available. Kittens are allowed to go to their new homes when they have completed their immunization schedule,(Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia) and are well-trained to both the litter pan and scratching post. |
|
|
Depending on each kitten’s individual development, the average age at which a kitten can go to its new home is twelve weeks. We neither recommend nor encourage the use of the FeLV or FIP vaccine. Neither vaccine is necessary for indoor-only cats, and the FIP vaccine has not been proven to be preventative enough to warrant its usage. |
| The price
of our pet kittens is $700 which includes our Health
Warranty. We sell most of our kittens as pets and very
rarely sell breeding cats, and then only to people who have a good deal
of knowledge about feline husbandry and are active on the show circuit.
Please take time now to view our Pet Contract that must be signed before purchasing a kitten from us.

Our breeding cats are tested annually for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). We are pleased that all of our cats in our breeding program are clear and show no evidence of HCM at this time. Screening our Maine Coons for HCM is performed by Dr. Hattie Bortnowski, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Internal Medicine). We will continue testing each of our cats yearly to ensure that at the time of testing our breeding cats are free of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. |
| Disclaimer: Screening for HCM is currently the recommended method to aid in reducing the incidence of this genetic condition in our cats. Breeders can not guarantee that their cats will not have this condition. However, Rumford can guarantee that we are dedicated to screening our breeding stock in a continued effort to produce healthy and sound Maine Coons to the best of our ability. |
