Coon males average between 12-18 pounds, and females between 8-12
pounds. Sometimes ours are larger. The colors that we have produced
are brown, red, silver, red/silver, smokes and blue. We have been
concentrating on the classic tabby pattern and have produced cats with
very striking patterns. Some of our kittens are with white, which
means they have white on their paws, chest and stomach.
Many of our females we produce are torbie or patched which means
that they have red color running through their tabby markings.

an outstanding torbie pattern click on the link to SGC,

Our breeding cats are tested annually for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). We are pleased that all of our cats in our breeding program are clear and show no evidence of HCM at this time. Screening our Maine Coons
via ultrasound for HCM is performed by Dr. Hattie Bortnowski, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Internal Medicine). We will continue testing each of our cats yearly to ensure that at the time of testing our breeding cats are free of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
All our cats
are DNA Negative for a specific genetic mutation which is known to
cause HCM. (The Myosin
Binding Protein C 3 (MyBPC 3) gene, also called HCM1) As with human beings with the same disease, there are many different
genetic mutations which can cause this disease. In the future,
additional mutations may be identified that may be tested as well.
If that occurs we will test our breeding cats for that mutation.
HCM is the most prevalent disease in all breeds of cats. Screening
via ultrasound for HCM and DNA testing is currently the recommended method to aid in reducing the incidence of this genetic condition in our cats. Breeders can not guarantee that their cats will not have this condition. However,
Rumford Maine Coons can guarantee that we are dedicated to screening our breeding cats in a continued effort to produce healthy and sound Maine Coon cats to the best of our
